Happy Father’s Day with Google’s Persona Marketing Videos

Just about a year ago, Google Chrome’s “Dear Sophie” video went viral – a 90-second spot of a father using the web to share memories with his daughter as she grows up. The “Parisian Love” ad spot premiered during the Super Bowl to later be named one of 2010’s best ads.

I’m a huge fan of these “smart videos,” if you will. Although they are not scalable, nor generated in real time, they hit the mark in creative intelligence. Chrome has created these videos featuring pop culture phenomena (Angry Birds, Lady Gaga) to your average Joes (mom and pop shop owners, heartbroken dates) all with the same message: “The web is what you make of it.”

Google Chrome Persona Marketing Video AdThese videos showcase Google’s Chrome product in a different light than a typical web browser ad: they hit the consumer’s emotional strings. And while not delivering 1-to-1 personalized content, they are still great examples of persona marketing videos that deliver the same message to different character profiles, whether parents, business owners or Mr. Lonely Hearts.

I’ve always been a fan of the Google marketing tactics. What do you think about these persona marketing videos? Please share any comments or other great persona marketing video ads you’ve seen out there!

And Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there!
